While past stars of the Heroes series have been commenting on whether they'd be interested in returning for NBC's upcoming reboot, Heroes: Reborn, it turns out that NBC may not be all that concerned with their interest. While Jack Coleman is confirmed to be returning to his role as Noah Bennet, the new series will mostly be focusing on a new cast of characters.

"The vast, vast majority are brand new characters, brand new ideas," series creator Tim Kring tells Entertainment Weekly. "[Bringing back previous characters is] really only to give a sense of continuity and a tether to the original world. If it was all completely brand new, we'd miss certain elements that need to be there to give you that bridge to cross to something new. I approached Coleman because he was a character who had a spine through the series that allowed you to meet new characters. So he's a character I wanted to make sure had a little part at the beginning of this thing."

Ali Larter, who played the split-personalities of Niki/Barbara Sanders, has already confirmed that she will not be a part of Heroes: Reborn, due to her commitments to Legends. Zachary Quinto, who played Sylar, is also too busy to return. Milo Ventimiglia, who plaed Peter Petrelli, has expressed a lack of interest in the project, while Hayden Panetierre, who played Bennet's daughter, Claire, has only stated that she has not been contacted for the project, though her role in the series Nashville will likely prevent her inclusion. Christopher Eccleston, who played Claude Rains, is currently a part of HBO's The Leftovers, but was enthusiastic about the idea of returning to his Heroes character if offered the chance.

Heroes: Reborn is expected to premiere in 2015.
