The Walking Dead lives by a creed that "No one is safe." Some have disputed this creed recently, seeing a Glenn survived being at the bottom of a walker pile-up, but many suspect this was to ultimately for him to die upon Negan's introduction later in the season.

However, was keeping Glenn alive just a move to mislead the audience?

Fans of The Walking Dead, especially those who read the comics, know how Glenn died in issue #100. It's the most infamous and iconic death of the entire series. Negan appears, after several issues of being teased, and bashes Glenn's skull with a barbed wire wrapped baseball bat he likes to call Lucille.

Glenn, one of the few remaining characters from the early days of The Walking Dead's comics, was brutally murdered in front of his friends and pregnant wife, Maggie. His last attempts at words were a call-out to her. The dramatic, brutal moment instantly built an insane amount hatred for Negan from readers.

How could the television series build up the same, if not more, hate for Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character upon his introduction? Kill a fan-favorite character who has been around since the beginning.

Daryl fits that bill.

On top of being a fan-favorite character which would really stir up audiences if killed, Daryl doesn't exist in the comic books. Norman Reedus' character is a complete wild card and no viewer can predict his future based on something they've read.

What if The Walking Dead's showrunner and writers kept Glenn alive, leading audiences to believe his comic book death will be realized on television upon Negan's first appearance, only to survive and watch Daryl die instead?

While I think AMC and the production team on Walking Dead will reserve the iconic death for the rightfully deserving Glenn, Daryl meeting Lucille is a possibility we should prepare for. And by prepare, I mean, seek shelter because of the riots which will ensue.

Do you think The Walking Dead will see Daryl killed by Negan?
