Terry Crews is currently busy starring in the police comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but, in an interview with Collider, he expressed interest in playing the part of Luke Cage in the upcoming Netflix exclusive television series. Crews said that he took himself out of the early running for the part, before the show was actually greenlit, because he didn't like the way actors were being pitted against each other. Now that the show is definitely in the works, Crews said that he hasn't gotten any calls about the part, but he expressed a definite interest in the role, saying:

"I heard [it's greenlit] but I haven't gotten any calls.  I've been hearing stuff like, 'oh you're too old,' and I'm like, 'Man do my workout 20 years ago and we'll talk about who's too old (laughs).'" "Like I said, anything can happen, I never rule anything out.  I'm game.  There are no rules.  What's up, Marvel?  I'm right here, baby.  I ain't goin nowhere. You know where I live!" (laughs)

Crews, a well built and expressive black actor, seems pretty perfect to play Luke Cage. We'll have to wait and see if Marvel is listening and thinking the same thing. The Luke Cage television series will be one of four series airing on Netflix that will lead into a Defenders crossover series. The four series star Luke Cage, Daredevil, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones, the heroes of New York City's "Hell's Kitchen." The project will kick off with the Daredevil series, set to air in 2015.
