If you are a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh!, then you need to carve out some time in your schedules next year. Fans have known for sometime that a new Yu-Gi-Oh! anime was in development, but now they have a much better idea of when the series will debut. Over the weekend, Shonen Jump held its Jump Festa to celebrate dozens of iconic series, and it was the even that TV Tokyo announced the new Yu-Gi-Oh! anime would air in spring 2017.

The yet-titled series will be the sixth one in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise and follow after Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V. The fifth series will have wrapped by next year, so there should not be a long gap between the two shows.
After the premiere was announced, the official Yu-Gi-Oh! twitter gave fans yet another update about the series. A picture was posted of the new show's protagonist Yusaku Fujiki, and the hero is continuing the show's tradition of male leads with gravity-defying hair. Like Yami Yugi, Yusaka has hair which sticks out in jagged spikes, but the new lead has traded in blonde locks for a cotton candy color scheme. The intense hairstyle has shades of bright pink and blue intermixed, and Yusaka's vibrant green eyes make him as colorful as his predecessors.
So far, there's not much information available about the new Yu-Gi-Oh! series, but fans do know a bit about its main theme. Reports have said the show will be focused on the phrase, "One step forward. Let's try."
Further reports say that the protagonist will be one who does not like to stand out amongst his peers; If that's the case, he may want to switch up his hair then. The next Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series is said to be aimed for young viewers and will teach them how to pursue their dreams without facing dread burn-out. Yusaku will embody all of the show's viewers with his awkward, bumbling personality, but the show will follow the hero as he makes friends and opens himself up to the world.
Before the sixth Yu-Gi-Oh! series debuts, fans will be able to get a taste of the on-going franchise when its latest movie comes stateside. Thanks to 4K Media, limited screenings of Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Side of Dimensions will be playing in the U.S. on January 27.
