Niantic Labs has responded to recent complaints caused by two Pokemon Go updates released over the weekend. Angry fans had flooded the Apple App and Google Play stores with negative reviews after the company removed Pokemon Go's tracking system and shut down several third party tracking apps. Niantic responded to the complaints as well as its general lack of communication in a post released last night on Pokemon Go's official Facebook page.

Per the statement, Niantic removed the tracking feature to improve upon its underlying design. "The original feature, although enjoyed by many, was also confusing and did not meet our underlying product goals," Niantic stated. The company also implied that the tracker would return in some form in a future update.

The statement also explained why Niantic shut down third party trackers. They noted that the trackers put an undue strain on their systems and interfered with their ability to complete the game's worldwide rollout. Niantic admitted that the game's popularity made it difficult to proceed with their original release plans, although they still planned to release the game in Brazil and other countries where the game isn't available.

Finally, the post addressed the company's lack of communication in recent weeks, stating that they've been too busy trying to keep Pokemon Go up and running to tweet or send out messages via Facebook. However, the company said they would try to be more open in the future.
