There might be a Pokemon surprise at Gamescom. Nintendo will be exhibiting at the upcoming European gaming trade fair and has announced that Pokemon programmer Shigeki Morimoto will show off some live gameplay footage from Pokemon Sun and Moon at the event. Nintendo will live stream the presentation on their German Twitch channel, fueling speculation that the gameplay could feature new Pokemon or other new surprises.

Morimoto has been involved with the Pokemon franchise for a longtime, having created the game's unique battle system. Morimoto also created Mew and covertly inserted the Pokemon into Pokemon Red and Blue without Nintendo's knowledge. More recently, Morimoto appeared in Pokemon Black and White as a secret boss of sorts who will battle the player once a day at Game Freak's in-game headquarters.

This wouldn't be the first time Nintendo has had a Pokemon Sun and Moon reveal at a European games presentation. Junichi Masuda, another key Pokemon programmer, revealed the new Pokemon Salandit at Japan Expo, which took place in France earlier this year.

The Twitch livestream will begin at 11 AM Eastern Time this Thursday, August 18th. ComicBook.com will have any new Pokemon Sun and Moon reveals as they happen.
