Over on the ComicBook.com main page, you’ll see a link to a story that says there are 75 comic books that are on track to become movies. SEVENTY FIVE.The pendulum has swung to the other side, folks.Anyone that follows comics would agree that the industry has been completely underrepresented in Hollywood the past couple of decades–from quantity to quality.”Spiderman” helped to change the perception that comic book movies were just for a set demographic.”Iron Man” showed that a comic book movie could be a great action movie–and tell a story. And “The Dark Knight” open the floodgates at the ticket counter by showing everyone that a comic book movie could be compelling and have a great story, along with plenty of action.Because of that, every production house on Earth has optioned the latest publication. What will be the result? We’ll see some great new movies, but there will be a ton of crap that is produced. And you’ll see “COMIC BOOK” and “LATEST COMIC BOOK ADAPTATION” all over the media. It will turn off the mainstream folks that have just gotten into the genre. They’ll get pounded and pounded by comic book movies and the CB movie genre will come to a quick and sudden death.Kinda like the western. You see one or two good westerns hit the screen, then a bunch of folks rush to get other movies out, which turn out to be crap. Then you won’t see a decent western for 6-8 years. This careless rush to produce comic book movies will be the death of it in a few years.
Okay, folks, enough is enough…
