is bringing their popular Rock Band franchise to a whole new reality. At the Game Awards this evening, Harmonix announced Rock Band VR, a new Rock Band game for the Oculus Rift, the in-development virtual reality gaming device.
The Oculus Rift is a new gaming device that's worn on the head over the eyes and allows gamers to actually experience being "in" the game they're playing. After spending several years in development, developers plan to release Oculus Rift next year, with at least nine games available at launch.
Rock Band VR presumably will act as one of flagship game for the Oculus Rift. The trailer only shows a few seconds of gameplay, but it appears Rock Band VR will allow fans to actually experience standing on stage and interacting with fans while playing the guitar, drums or vocals.
No specific release date was announced for Rock Band VR, but the game will be available when Oculus Rift finally launches.
