and Captain America: The Winter Soldier star Scarlett Johansson is Esquire Magazines' Sexiest Woman Alive for the second time--and her response is tongue-in-cheek enough to make you care. Throughout the interview on their site, she's clearly playing along but not too interested, telling the interviewer that she'll say whatever he wants her to say and then picks on him for fumbling nervously through their conversation. It's endearing, honestly, seeing the actress (who's normally so-very-serious in any of the Marvel press events) have what seems to be a little bit of fun, presumably because this isn't really her business. The last time she won was in 2006, when her only comic book movie was Ghost World and her hair color was about three changes removed from what it is now. She was 21 that time, with only a handful of big-hit movies under her belt, but Lost in Translation had happened two years before so nobody questioned her as the Next Big Thing. "I'm the only woman to win it twice, right?" She asks. "You know, I gotta hustle. I'm a twenty-eight-year-old woman in the movie business, right? Pretty soon the roles you're offered all become mothers. Then they just sort of stop. I have to hedge against that with work—theater, producing, this thing with Esquire." That was the line that won me over; likening the payless, publicity-for-a-day nature of a magazine's annual declaration that she's hot to moving into behind the camera work to give herself long-term security. In case it wasn't clear enough throughout that she was laughing at them, and herself, as much as with, that seems pretty definitive.
