Sony's Uncharted Movie Just Moved One Step Closer To Happening!

A film adaptation of Uncharted, the popular Playstation video game series developed by Naughty Dog and featuring the adventures of treasure hunter Nathan "Nate" Drake, has been in works since 2008. While it has come close to getting a greenlight from Sony Pictures several times over past nine years, it just moved one giant step closer to happening!
Today, Joe Carnahan — the screenwriter of The Grey and director of the upcoming Bad Boys sequel — has announced that he has completed his script for Sony's Uncharted movie. "Done and Dusted," he wrote. "Now the REAL work begins. If there's a more monstrously cool action script in Hollywood right now, I wanna read it, 'cuz this thing is a BEAST."
Though Uncharted was removed from Sony's movie release schedule back in September, the studio never gave up on the project. A month later (October), the studio hired Shawn Levy (Real Steel) to direct and revealed that filming is set to begin in early 2017.

Uncharted will be a joint venture between Arad and Atlas Entertainment Production, with Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad servicing as Producers, and Sony creative exec Jonathan Kadin taking the lead on the project.
Uncharted is based on the hit video game franchise released exclusively to Sony's PlayStation formats with an eye toward developing it as a film-and-merch franchise that Sony could exploit. There are four main games as well as some games designed for mobile platforms and even a board game. Before the movie adaptation started to happen, Uncharted spawned a number of tie-in projects including books, comics, and motion comics.
