Terminator: Genisys Reportedly Has A PG-13 Rating

Marketing material for Paramount's Terminator: Genisys has "This film is not yet rated" plastered over it, but the website theterminatorfans.com is reporting that the rating has been finalized.

If you've seen the trailers or the television spots you won't be surprised to learn that the next Terminator film is reportedly PG-13.

Well, our source close to the production of the movie has assured us all along that the movie will be Rated PG-13… we have described what we have witnessed and understand as fantasy style/comic book violence as being the back door out of a harder rating for the movie, CGI characters dealing the blows is something running throughout the movie,- not just in the Arnold Vs Arnold battle. We asked our source again more recently and they are still sticking with PG-13; with our source describing it as "something the studios prefer to do for marketing reasons". This will make it the second film in the franchise to receive that rating. The first was Terminator Salvation, which starred Christian Bale. All of the other films in the series had been Rated R until it was neutered in the hopes of drawing a wider audience. In the end, Terminator Salvation underperformed at the box office and grossed less than the two previous films.

The beginning of Terminator: Genisys, the first of three planned films that Paramount hopes will relaunch the beloved sci-fi franchise, is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese (Divergent's Jai Courtney) is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post apocalyptic California. As in the original film, Connor sends Reese back to 1984 to save Connor's mother, Sarah (Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator programmed to kill her so that she won't ever give birth to John. But what Reese finds on the other side is nothing like he expected.
