Charles Soule, Ray Fawkes and Nick Bradshaw will launch an ongoing, weekly series titled Wolverines spinning out of The Death of Wolverine in January, Marvel Comics announced today via MTV, ahead of their Marvel: The Death of Wolverine - The Logan Legacy panel at New York Comic Con.
In the ongoing series, a number of characters with close ties to Wolverine will band together in an uneasy alliance to forge a new path for themselves, honor Logan's legacy and explore the mysteries behind his death.
The title will feature Mystique, X-23, Sabretooth and Daken, among others.
Soule, of course, just signed an exclusive deal with Marvel and came off a pair of high-profile projects -- Swamp Thing and Superman/Wonder Woman -- at DC Comics. He also was a rinciple architect behind the Death of Wolverine event and seems to be the man with the plan going forward, having told a fan at a previous convention that he was aware of the company's Wolverine plans for at least two years (and, no, they don't currently involve bringing the ol' Canucklehead back).
You can check out a "redacted" cover above, and a handful of other covers in the gallery below from the first nine issues of the run. Click on the image at right to get a better look at a two-page spread from artist Nick Bradshaw in Wolverines #1.
Check back tomorrow morning for a conversation with Soule about the series. Wolverines #1 kicks off in January.
