The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Hasbro is unveiling an epic Transformers storyline, Prime Wars Trilogy, that will be featured in toys, comic books and video games. The storytelling will unfold over multiple media and consumer products for the next 3 to 4 years.

"We decided to initiate the creation of a bigger deeper worlds," David Erwin, the head of Hasbro's Transformers story team, told THR. "The fan reaction was really good. And that's when we decided we wanted to make this a trilogy and really make this immersive. And when we say immersive, that means to create that experience across all different platforms, to take it across everything that we do."

The Combiner Wars, taking place in the Machinima digital series and Activision video games, will finish up in summer 2016. Then Hasbro will unleash "Titans Return" in the fall of 2016 and expect that conclude late 2017 or early 2018.

That storyline will feature the biggest Transformers robots in existence, fan-favorite Sentinel Prime and the return of a beloved action feature from the '80s: robots that convert into heads for bigger robots. It will play out across the entire Transformers Generations toyline and in IDW Publishing's line of comics, as well as digital gaming. - THR

Transformers 5 will be directed by Michael Bay (The Rock), based on a script written by Akiva Goldsman. Mark Wahlberg (Ted) will reprise his Cade Yeager role from Age of Extinction for a second adventure with the Robots in Disguise.
