Vin Diesel Was Originally In Talks For Marvel Studios Phase Three Movie

Even though Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce anything, Vin Diesel has let it be known that he's up for the role of Groot in Guardians Of The Galaxy. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Vin Diesel talks as if the role has been offered by Marvel, but it's now just up to his reps to make it work in his schedule. Vin Diesel also reveals that if he does play Groot that it will not be just voice work only as he mentions doing motion capture work for the role. What's even more interesting than Vin Diesel talking about the Groot though is that he reveals he was originally talking to Marvel Studios about a new intellectual property that would launch in 2016 or 2017. Marvel Studios currently has two dates reserved for 2016 and one date reserved for 2017 for three as yet unannounced films. One of those films is heavily rumored to be Dr. Strange, which doesn't seem like it would be a good fit for Vin Diesel. What could be the mystery role have been? Black Panther? Luke Cage? One of the Inhumans? Or a Hulk villain? The possibilities are endless.
