The last time

fans heard from IDW Publishing about T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents, the publisher had just acquired the rights to reprint old material and license new books, but no creative team had yet been named. Well, as of yet we still don't have any art to show for the series, but we now know that a new series featuring the beloved characters will launch in August, written by Phil Hester and illustrated by Andrea Di Vito with covers by Jerry Ordway and Dave Sim. "We've avoided doing superhero comics for the most part," IDW's Chris Ryall told an audience at WonderCon earlier today. "This is very much a pure superhero comic. It's set in the '60s. It just feels like a classic superhero book, even probably more so than the last revival of T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents." That revival, of course, took place at DC Comics and boasted talent like Nick Spencer, Frank Quitely and Mike Grell, among others. As an aside, the award-winning and controversial Sim will apparently have another announcement coming soon, as he's in talks with IDW about something else at present.
