Zack Snyder Explains Advantage of Multi-Universe for DC TV and Movies

Zack Snyder says he has "100% respect and love for what they're doing on TV" with the DC Comics characters. But he recognizes that it's only one version of them.

"These characters are bigger than any of the actors playing them," the director of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice said on the Hall of Justice Podcast. "It's almost an American tradition now," he continued, admitting that there'll be other directors and writers that will take them on long after he's gone.

"As opposed to trying to shoehorn all these storylines into a single universe, we let the characters exist in a multi-universe, and it's a lot more fun, and a lot more value for the audience," he said of the split between movies and TV at DC Entertainment. For those not in the know, the two multimedia interpretations are being kept separate - so don't expect Grant Gustin to run into Henry Cavill as the Flash; that will be Ezra Miller on the big screen.

"[Fans] get to see their favorite, most beloved characters on different adventures at the same time in different universes. It makes it a lot more fun, we get to go in different directions at the same time," he concluded. "I'm like a kid in a candy store with this incredible opportunity. It's really fun. It couldn't be any better."
