Production on the eighth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise has begun and for the first time, the franchise stars have returned to the set and are missing one of their brightest for the entire production.

Paul Walker, who was lost in a car accident in 2013, may not be on the set physically but he is most certainly there in spirit. His long time friend and brother by all things but blood, Vin Diesel, keeps Walker’s memory very much alive while on set and promoting the Fast & Furious movies. Starting on the eighth is a touching time for him and so he took to Instagram to pay further tribute.

Making Walker proud is likely one of Diesel’s top priorities. The memory of his friend will live on forever and Diesel will proudly continue production on the franchise which brought them together in the first place.

Most of the cast will be returning for the new film, including Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (who is currently finishing up production on Baywatch). The plot is unknown, but Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody character may be the driving force behind the film and sending the family on a new mission and Charlize Theron has joined the cast as a character named Cipher..

Fast 8 is being directed by F. Gary Gray and is written by Chris Morgan and Gary Scott Thompson. Fast & Furious 8 is making history as well, as it is the first global Hollywood movie to be allowed to shoot in Cuba.

Fast & Furious 8 is set for release on April 17, 2017.
