Looks like Santa will have three fewer houses to stop at next year. Bad Moms’ star Kristen Bell just announced that the franchise will be expanding to include a sequel to the comedy. A Bad Moms Christmas will be hitting theaters sometime in late 2017.
The original writers for the first film, Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, are on board to fast-track this sequel while sticking to the original story and attitude as the first film. STX Entertainment hopes that the film will hit the theaters on November 3rd, 2017, just in time for moms everywhere to take a day off before the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

Right now it looks like the main story will be focused on Bell, Mila Kunis, and Kathryn Hahn’s characters. Earlier in December, Lucas spoke about the potential of a sequel and admitted that he and his co-writer are putting all of their energy into coming up with just the right story for these three bad mommas.
“This is a brand that has enormous goodwill all over the world, so expanding and extending the Bad Moms franchise in an authentic and irreverent ay has been a priority for our team,” said the STX Chairman Adam Fogelson. “Mila, Kristen, and Kathryn are excited to re-team, and we will move forward with A Bad Moms Christmas on a similar timetable and in much the same way in which we produced the original.”

The original film was made for a minimal $20 million budget but managed to come out with a $180 million worldwide. What’s more, this Christmas sequel isn’t the only movie that is being considered in the franchise. The concept for a Bad Dads movie is also being considered.
