Celebrity Apprentice took a hiatus when the former host, Donald Trump, began a campaign to become the President of the United States. Considering Trump is busy with his new-found responsibilities, the TV personality no longer had time to mock celebrities who were desperate to embarrass themselves for fame and money. Former Governor of California and ’80s action star Arnold Schwarzenegger was happy to take over hosting responsibilities to give a new lineup of celebrities a chance to make themselves relevant. Trump still serves as executive producer of the show and regularly takes to Twitter to harass the current host, both of which are factors in Schwarzenegger’s decision to leave the series behind.

The former Terminator star says that he thoroughly enjoyed the experience of hosting the show, but controversies surrounding Trump has been too much of a burden on him to want to continue.
When speaking with Empire, Schwarzenegger said, “When people found out that Trump was still involved…and was still receiving money from the show, then half the people [started] boycotting it.”
His split from the show comes after rumors that, due to low ratings and sponsors abandoning the project, it wouldn’t have been renewed anyway. Whether those rumors stemmed from Arnold’s performance on the show or from Trump still having ties to the project are unknown, but the show’s future doesn’t look good.
Schwarzenegger went on to say, “With Trump being involved in the show people have a bad taste and don’t want to participate as a spectator or as a sponsor or in any other way support the show.”
The former host’s response on Twitter was “Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t voluntarily leaving the Apprentice. He was fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings, not by me. Sad end to great show.”
Here’s hoping the two can settle their dispute over an upcoming installment of Celebrity Boxing.
