The fan favorite actor is the focal point of the campaign (via Deadline), attempting to get his role on the Starz series Ash Vs. Evil Dead nominated for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series, and to make the Emmy’s “groovy again.”
Passersby will see billboards like the one above hung at popular intersections in Los Angeles along with new video ads hitting the web like the ones featured below. Theano Apostolou, Starz Executive Vice President of Communications, spoke a bit about the campaign, saying: “If there’s one thing that the 2016 campaign season has taught us, it’s that voters respond to a bold pitch. You can’t really go wrong by getting out of the way and letting Bruce Campbell do what he does bestโฆ which is pitch Bruce Campbell. We think his chainsaw hand will help cut through all the noise.”
The first video ad shows Campbell saying: “The other Emmy contenders have questioned my qualifications for best lead actor in a comedy series. After a rousing example of “Acting”, he goes on to say “now maybe they have a point, but I have a chainsaw hand. Vote for me and make the Emmy’s groovy again.” Hard to argue with logic like that.
The second ad says: How would it feel to beat out all those other jerks and win best lead actor in a comedy series? (Revs chainsaw, then takes it off his hand and mounts an Emmy to it and then kisses it)โฆgroovy.”
When in doubt, just go with Bruce Campbell knows best and call it a day.
