It has just been revealed that Fear Factor, the legendary reality series, is being revived by MTV. Not only that, but the reboot of the series has already been given an A-list celebrity host.
Rapper/actor Chris ‘Ludacris‘ Bridges will headline the series.
According to Variety, Viacom – who owns MTV – is focusing on more reality programs, rather than scripted series. This step is adding a bit more of that element to their MTV line-up.
The original Fear Factor series ran from 2001-2006, and it was hosted by Joe Rogan. The show pitted contestants against their biggest fears, and often found ways to gross-out the viewers. Fear Factor featured everything from eating odd animal parts, to jumping into pits filled with snakes, to tightrope walking between a couple of skyscrapers.
According to the report, the show is expected to begin airing on MTV sometime in May.
Ludacris takes on the hosting gig after recently releasing some new music, as well as appearing in the upcoming hit film, Fate Of The Furious. You can check the new movie out when it hits theaters this weekend.
For The Fate of the Furious, Vin Diesel is joined by a returning all-star cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Kurt Russell. In addition to Theron, the series welcomes newcomers Scott Eastwood and Oscar winner Helen Mirren. The film is directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and produced by returning producers Neal H. Moritz, Michael Fottrell, and Diesel.
The Fate of the Furious opens in theaters April 14, 2017.
