British actress Malanie Liburd has been cast in the sixth season of Game of Thrones, Deadline reports. Liburd has previously appeared on The Grinder, Strike Back, Dracula and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
Liburd will be playing a Red Priestess of R'hllor. It's should be noted that she will be playing a Red Priestess, not the Red Priestess. There are many such servants of the God of Light in the world of Westeros – Tyrion came across one in Volantis in Season 5 – so there's no reason to believe that Carice Van Houten is being replaced as Melisandre in Season 6, as the Deadline report seems to believe is the case.
Game of Thrones will return for Season 6 on HBO is 2016.
