When it comes to honoring the passing of prolific entertainers, the Golden Globe Awards usually passes on “In Memorium” segments, knowing that both the Academy Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards honor the talents in fantastic fashion. In a change from the trend, the producers of the Golden Globe Awards have decided that, in light of all the awful events of 2016, the awards ceremony will honor those who we have lost.

Globes producer Barry Adelman told PEOPLE, “”We have not done an ‘In Memoriam’ on the Golden Globes,” but added, “”But we do realize there were some special circumstances of very recent nature that happened and I think we’ll be acknowledging that.”
In what fashion these passings will be honored is anyone’s guess, as it could be an In Memoriam program or potentially something else.
Whereas the Academy Awards In Memoriam segment generally sticks to the world of film and television, with the Golden Globes could potentially extend their segment to include music, considering 2016 saw the loss of seminal artists David Bowie, Prince, and George Michael.
