The Rush Hour star will voice the character of Mr.Feng, a “weapon of mouse destruction” with a fierce, territorial side. The film follows Surly Squirrel and his ragtag group of animal friends, who need to band together to save their their park from being bulldozed to make way for a dangerous amusement park.

Will Arnett, Maya Rudolph, and Katherine Heigl, will reprise their roles as Surly, Precious, and Andie, respectively. This isn’t, of course, Chan’s first animation work. The Jackie Chan Adventures animated series cemented him as somebody who can get the job done even without his trademark stunts over a decade ago.

Cal Brunker will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Scott Bindley and Bob Barlen.

The first The Nut Job opened with just under $20 million and went on to earn $120 million at the global box office against a budget of just $42 million.

Open Road Films will distribute The Nut Job 2 in theaters in the U.S. with the Weinstein Company holding sales rights worldwide except China and Korea. They’re currently exploring global distribution options.

The Nut Job 2 will hit theaters in May of 2017.
