Power Rangers will be making a return to the silver screen next year, but for those looking forward to a few prominent cameos, you might be disappointed.

Original Black Ranger actor Walter Jones recently sat down with the Audibly Exquisite podcast to talk all things Power Rangers. When asked if he would be making an appearance in the forthcoming film, he pretty much shot that hope down.

"It's not likely. Unfortunately, we were not invited to be part of the film, which is confusing to me, but I'm excited about the film nevertheless."

It does seem odd that they wouldn't at least tip their hat a bit, especially since the franchise continues to be prominent on television. It's understandable that the studio would want to avoid some of the campiness that's associated with the original series, but the franchise continues to thrive in part due to the ongoing interaction between the actors of the series and the fans, so deciding to go a different direction now is somewhat out of place.

Still, Jones and the Power Rangers community at large are still excited to see what Lionsgate will do with the property. The new black ranger, who is being played by Ludi Lin, recently spoke about his new fighting style, which will also differ from the original interpretation.

"Well, I did a lot of my own stunts. The director was wonderful. We just worked as a team to work out what I can do and what I can give to the character. I wanted to develop something very different for the character because the character is the first Chinese superhero. I didn't want him to be a typical Kung-Fu, Wushu fighting pretty kicks. I wanted something powerful because it's a sexy character as well."

Power Rangers is slated to hit theaters on March 24, 2017.
