The opening scenes of The Force Awakens showed us a Stormtrooper from The First Order, Finn, escaping the deadly military organization. The upcoming The Last Jedi will see him infiltrate The First Order on behalf of the Resistance, but rumors have begun circulating that his treasonous behavior might catch up with him and see the end of the character in the new film.

Star Wars News Net has begun piecing together various clues about the new film that could spell disaster for the character, played by John Boyega. We’ve seen glimpses of a new type of Stormtrooper in toys and behind-the-scenes footage, who wield vibro-axes and have black stripes on their helmets. These “Executioner Troopers” will serve a very specific purpose within the organization, according to their character descriptions on new figures.
Their descriptions read, “The First Order can only operate effectively with the absolute loyalty of its followers. Should any soldier be found guilty of treason, it is up to this special branch of Stormtroopers to dispense final justice.”
The ranks of Stormtroopers have regularly been infiltrated, going all the way back to Luke and Han stealing their armor on the first Death Star while Han deceived the Empire with the use of a helmet in Return of the Jedi. The First Order clearly wants to run a tighter ship, thanks to the help of these Executioner Troopers.
While it’s mostly conjecture, the behind-the-scenes video screened at D23, which you can watch above, showed various glimpses of Finn, both in First Order garb and also in a jail cell.
It may seem like a bold move to kill Finn off so shortly after introducing him, but if he makes a sacrifice in order to help the Resistance, don’t be surprised to see the character vanquished at the hands of the Executioner Troopers.
The Last Jedi hits theaters December 15.
