As much as I love the Beastie Boys, I'm still not quite sure if their sound goes all that well with science-fiction films. Obviously, if you're a fan of the J.J. Abrams-produced Star Trek films, you might disagree with me on that. All three Abrams-produced Star Trek films feature a song from the hip-hop group. The 1994 hit-song "Sabotage" appeared in the beginning of 2009's Star Trek and in the conclusion of 2016's Star Trek Beyond. 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness included their 1998 song "Body Movin'."

Since the band mastered the art of sampling and the Abrams-produced Star Trek films, in essence, sample from the original television series and film series, that could be the deeper connection explaining the Beastie Boys inclusion.

Either way, Youtube user Matthew Longua must dig the unlikely blend of hip-hop and sci-fi as well, as he has edited a new fan-made video for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that is scored to "Sabotage," and based on the 730-thousand views it has received in one week, people clearly think Beastie Boys goes with sci-fi like peanut butter and jelly.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.
