While most fans are divided over the changed ending of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story or even the entire third act, some Star Wars fans are more concerned about a joke that Darth Vader made.
Why? Well, because Vader is evil and he just doesn't make jokes, not even clever puns, right?
Well, he was once that funny, annoying little kid in Star Wars: The Phantom Menance, but we don't talk about that!
However in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Darth Vader does make a joke and it is rather punny and people did laugh in the theater.
When Director Orson Krennic shows up on the planet Mustafar to update Darth Vader on the latest information on the Death Star, and to let him know that Tarkin is trying to take credit for building the laser weapon, Krennic pushes him a bit too far.
Vader lifts his hand, turns it, and uses the force to crush Krennic's skinny little throat and tells him:
"Be careful not to choke on your aspirations, Director."
Good one, Vader!
Krennic is choking to death, which is also known as aspirating and he is trying to "aspire" to be something he is not within the Empire.
Rogue One was good but I think we can all agree that we mentally checked out when Darth Vader made a pun about the force— Rachel Parker (@mizrachelparker) December 20, 2016
Okay but can we all agree that Darth Vader's pun is the single greatest thing you've ever heard— Bailey Sauls (@lildrummerbay) December 17, 2016
I have now lived long enough to see Darth Vader make a pun and I don't know how I feel about that.— Maggie Stiefvater (@mstiefvater) December 16, 2016
Either way, the guy is allowed to have a sense of humor after all he has been through.
