The first official poster from Lucasfilm for Star Wars Celebration Orlando, the 2017 convention taking place in April, has been released. The poster celebrates the 40th anniversary of Star Wars, which was first released on May 25, 1977, when the first film, now known as Star Wars: A New Hope, hit theaters.
The poster, by artist Paul Shipper, covers every era of Star Wars, with imagery from the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy, and the sequel trilogy all present. From the original trilogy, center of the image, we have Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Chewbacca. Behind them are the core stars of the prequel era: Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amidala, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Yoda, who of course first appeared in the originals. Then, stemming from the center and off to each side are the stars of the sequel trilogy that kicked off with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, including Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron, plus villains Kylo Ren, General Hux, and Captain Phasma.
Of course, up front we have the real stars of Star Wars: the loveable droids! R2-D2, C-3PO, and BB-8 are all represented. Darth Vader looms behind it all, along with the Death Star and some signature Star Wars vehicles.
It's fun for fans to see the entire Star Wars Skywalker Saga represented in one image this way, and this is sure to be an incredibly popular item at Star Wars Celebration Orlando.
Alongside the poster, they also announced a Star Wars 40th Anniversary panel will kick off the weekend on Thursday, April 13. Warwick Davis, who has appeared in all three trilogies and the standalone Rogue One, and is beloved by Star Wars fandom, will host the panel, alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and special guests from across the entire history of the franchise. Yeah, not gonna want to miss that one.
Of course, Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be a major focus at the convention as well, with a focus panel (and likely more than one) and plenty of announcements.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017 release. The film follows-up and continues the story of the next generation of the saga as Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren find their place in the galaxy and follow the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo. Daisy Ridley returns to star as Rey, with other returning stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong'o Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern join the cast in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
