Star Wars: Rosario Dawson Campaigning For Live-Action Ahsoka Role

The Internet resurrected Ahsoka once, and someone is hoping they can do it again. During an appearance on Good Morning America, Rosario Dawson made it clear that she’d love to play the legendary animated Star Wars character.

Fans of the franchise were already pining for Ahsoka to appear in live-action form at some point, but the addition of Dawson was fuel to the fire. In February, a fan tweeted at the actress, asking her if she would ever want to Ahsoka in a movie. Dawson immediately expressed enthusiasm.

Since then, people have started actively campaigning to get Dawson involved in the Star Wars universe. The official Star Wars Twitter account even followed her recently, increasing speculation.

While on Good Morning America this week, Dawson went all-in on the notion that she wants to play the fan-favorite Jedi. She first told the hosts that playing the character would be amazing, but followed that up with an even bolder statement.

With fingers crossed, the actress pleaded with the Internet to make something happen.

Lucasfilm hasn’t announced any official plans to bring Ahsoka to life, but the company has been known to keep its cards pretty close to the chest.

However, the fanbase has a lot of influence in the world of Star Wars. After the cancellation of The Clone Wars, online petitions and pleas from fans were enough to convince the producers of Rebels to bring her back again.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017 release. The film follows-up and continues the story of the next generation of the saga as Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren find their place in the galaxy and follow the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo. Daisy Ridley returns to star as Rey, with other returning stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong’o Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern join the cast in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
