It’s safe to say that Star Wars is currently the talk of the Internet, largely due to this weekend’s Star Wars Celebration Orlando. Funko, the collectible company best known for creating the highly popular Pop! Vinyl figures, recently previewed an item from their newest Smuggler’s Bounty box.
For the uninitiated, Smuggler’s Bounty is a recurring subscription box, presented by both Funko and Lucasfilm. One of several subscription services available from the company, Smuggler’s Bounty delivers fans with entirely exclusive Star Wars memorabilia every other month, with each box curated around a specific theme.
The newest theme is A New Hope, timing perfectly with May 25th’s upcoming 40th anniversary of the film’s release. While the theme has been known by many fans and collectors for quite some time, many wondered exactly what elements from the now-iconic film that Funko would draw inspiration from for its exclusive collectibles.
Earlier this weekend, Funko decided to unveil one of the box’s contents, while on the floor of Star Wars Celebration. (If you’ve already ordered the box and want to remain surprised, don’t read below the video…)
That’s right, the A New Hope Smuggler’s Bounty box will contain a piece from one of Funko’s newest lines – Pop! Deluxe. The figure shows Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in his trusty speeder, although it’s sadly lacking both Obi-Wan Kenobi and a few certain droids. Nevertheless, the piece is awesome, and is sure to get fans excited for the upcoming box.
If you want to get your hands on this Luke Skywalker with Speeder Pop! Deluxe – as well as the rest of the A New Hope Smuggler’s Bounty box, it is available to order on the Smuggler’s Bounty website through May 15th.
