Alycia Debnam-Carey is about to step up to the plate and swing away for Fear the Walking Dead‘s third season.

The new batch of episodes promises to explore uncharted corners of the zombie apocalypse but in doing so will offer characters the opportunity to evolve. Debnam-Carey’s Alicia will be among the character who are willing to strip themselves of the barriers provided by the pre-apocalyptic world and do what it takes to survive.

When the group returns on Sunday night, they will do so in new locations, which Debnam-Carey tells BT makes for an “absolutely” new season. “I think they definitely upped the pace and they upped the action,” Debnam-Carey said. “They added some great new characters as well. It adds a whole new element of power dynamics and power struggles which is really cool. We are in a bigger environment and world together that is really exciting for us to explore. It’s made everything a lot more energised.”

Alicia only recently lost her boyfriend as he fell victim to the zombie apocalypse. She has been forced to quickly move on but the actress portraying her simply says, “Maybe,” when it comes to future romantic possibilities.

“If there is it wouldn’t be a romance in the pure, current sense of the word,” Debnam-Carey said. “It would be more of an apocalyptic relationship – but I really can’t reveal anymore!”

Fear the Walking Dead returns for its third season on June 4 at 9 pm ET on AMC. The Walking Dead will return for its eighth season in October of 2017.
