Greg Nicotero is one of the most passionate fans of the horror genre. As an executive producer of AMC‘s The Walking Dead and often director of several episodes each season, the visual effects genius is given several opportunities to pay tribute to the horror films which shaped his love for the brand.

Sunday’s episode will be no exception. Nicotero directs the Say Yes episode, which is the twelfth of Season 7, and has managed to slip a couple of tributes into the episode. While he’ll discuss one on ComicBook.com’s After the Dead on Sunday night, the other has been revealed on Instagram.
Nicotero’s recent Instagram post depicts a walker inside of a ticket booth, which will almost certainly be part of the carnival Rick and Michonne are seen exploring in the sneak previews for the new episode. Perhaps Rick had to buy some tickets before climbing the ferris wheel and this charming young undead chap was in place to provide them!

Creepshow is a 1982 film from Stephen King’s brain. It fits the genre of black comedy horror, under the direction of horror film legend George Romero. It featured five short stories, with a cast of Hal Holbrook, Adrienne Barbeau, Fritz Weaver, Leslie Nealse, Ted Danson, and E.G. Marhsall, with King making an appearance in the film, as well.
The tribute coming in Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead is pulled straight from Creepshow‘s poster which sees a skeleton offering movie tickets beside a banner reading, “The Most Fun You’ll Ever Have Being Scared!”
Following Sunday’s new episode, Nicotero will join ComicBook.com for After the Dead live on FaceBook and YouTube. For more information, clip the image below!
