On Tuesday, AMC released exciting new All Out War key art for The Walking Dead Season 8. Hidden in the art, however, may have been a considerable spoiler for the upcoming episodes.
Of course, the art teases the story all fans of the popular zombie drama knew was coming when the show premiered its 100th overall episode on October 22. The banner clearly reads “All Out War” as Rick Grimes stands centered in the frame in his classic pose: python pointed and ready to fire.

Surrounding Rick are all of the characters from Alexandria, the Hilltop, and Kingdom who have been helping him win the war. The potentially traitorous Gregory is absent from the poster, as is Dwight who has been aligned with the Saviors but promises to be interested in joining Rick’s side of the fight.
One character, however, is featured on the poster loaded with good guys despite having a mysterious allegiance on The Walking Dead…
Eugene Porter
On the right side of the poster is Eugene Porter. Eugene is the only character featured who has not shown a clear allegiance to Rick Grimes since Negan came along.
No one else who is siding or showing signs of siding with Negan and the Saviors is featured on the poster. Not Jadis, not Gregory, not even Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan himself.
While many fans expect Dwight to betray Negan based on the character’s comic book counterpart, the fact that Eugene is featured alongside all of the show’s “good guys” might be a telling sign of where he’ll stand when the war marches to Negan’s doorstep. The character is, after all, only interested in his own safety. When the Saviors appear to be threatened, he may very well try to flip back to Team Family. Whether or not they’ll have him, though, is unknown.
Before he potentially escapes Negan’s Saviors, however, Eugene will help tell the villain’s backstory according to Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan. “The little slivers of backstory that we’re hopefully will find out, it’s important to have someone like Josh, or Eugene, on Negan’s side,” Morgan said. “Eugene wants to know things. So, it’s been a good conduit.”

The Walking Dead‘s sibling series Fear the Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 pm ET on AMC. The Walking Dead will return for its eighth season on October 22, 2017.
