Back at the dam, Daniel observes the people they are helping. Thet are welcoming new people to the community. They spot a number of infected approaching which sends the group into a chaotic sprint in different directions.

At the Ranch, night has fallen and Jake addresses everyone. “Our path has been hard,” Jake said. “We’ve all suffered loss but we can’t dwell onย thatย and move forward. We can’t hold grudges and forgive. This place has always been about building a better future. If we share our supplies and our skills we can have that. In a generation, we can be whole. It’s what this place should be.”

Walker chimes in. “You’re afraid. Afraid as we are of you,” he said. “My grudge died when Jeremiah made a sacrifice. We can be one now. We can fight against the hell outside. Give that our fear. Our fury.” He raises a glass and many do the same with him.

Nick knocks on Ofelia’s door. “I killed people, Nick,” she said. “Glad you survived.” Nick asks if she feels guilt. She doesn’t feel as much as she thought she would. “I guess I am my father’s daughter, huh? What about you?” Nick doesn’t understand why he should feel guilty at first. “We’re not so different, you and I, Nick.”

Moments later, Madison and Nick discuss how important it is to keep Jeremiah’s murder a secret. They arrive at Troy’s house and demand his weapons. Troy is curious about his own safety. Nick helps convince him by saying, “You don’t want to die on your doorstep.” Troy allows everyone inside. He sits in his father’s chair and discusses his father dying in it. Troy thanks Nick for his support.

At the dam, Daniel notices more infected have gotten in. Lola elects they will deal with them later. He is thinking about Ofelia but she tells him the world is gone in every direction. Hope is okay but waiting is not. “Nothing breaks me, Lola,” he tells her. “I’m immortal.”

The next day, Madison talks with Walker. Walker wants justice. Madison says they can’t kill Troy but she doesn’t want them to kill him. “You can’t martyr him,” she said. Madison shoots her gun in the air and demands he take his pack and go. “I don’t want to kill you,” she said. He questions her guilt for killing Jeremiah. “You… let your son shoot him?” Troy asks. “What stopped you? What’s stopping you now?”ย

Troy yanks the gun and grabs Madison. “Your father wanted to let other people die! He wanted to let you die! He could’veย banished himself,” she insists.ย

“I don’t surrender, Madison. I don’t surrender.”
