Major spoilers for Fear the Walking Dead‘s Season 3 premiere follow!

Fear the Walking Dead wasn’t messing around when it returned for its third season. The new batch of episodes kicked of with the characters having a bittersweet reunion at a twisted military camp before chaos sent them packing.
During their brief stay at this new location, Travis Manawa put his brutal willingness to survive on display. Not only did he team up with Nick to escape death at the hands of this militia but he used cinder blocks and anything else he could get his hands on to take out walkers in a pit.
However, the newly developed skills and willingness to kill in order to survive were shortlived for Travis. As he flew in a helicopter piloted by newcomer Jake Otto alongside Alicia Clark, Travis was struck in the nexk by a random bullet. As he blood poured out, he removed his safety belt and looked to his girlfriend’s daughter saying, “Help me.” From here, Travis revealed more severe wounds on his stomach, opened the door, and fell out.
Now, all signs clearly point to Travis being dead. The character had severe injuries and fell from a helicopter at an unknown height. Of course, given this show takes place in the same place where Glenn was able to hide under a dumpster to avoid walkers, fans are reserving an understandable amount of skepticism.
Assuming Travis is, in fact, as dead as he appeared to be during his final moments in Fear the Walking Dead‘s Season 3 premiere, an important question remains: who killed Travis?
New Woman in Charge
Fear the Walking Dead will be introducing a new villain at some point during the show’s third season. The only details available regarding the character are that she is female and evil.
Showrunner Dave Erickson told ComicBook.com about the new character during an appearance on After the Dead following the Season 2 finale.ย
“There’s gonna be a new prominent character, who we’re gonna meet south of the border, who is going to have an impact on Nick and Luciana, and Strand most likely,” Erickson said. “She will become somebody, I think, who can rival any of the powerful characters we’ve had on the show or will have on the show. The idea is to create opposing forces on either side of the border and see what happens when they end up in conflict and what happens if our family is on opposite sides of the conflict.”
Luciana actress Danay Garcia also dished on the villain in an interview with ComicBook.com during the show’s off-season.
“I’m really looking forward to it, because you know what? I honestly think that every time somebody makes somebody evil, the really truth is that they are really not that evil,” Garcia said. “They just have their reasons, that they’re making decisions based on their own issues. If you really go down –deep, deep, deep down — they’re people that are just doing the best they can.”
“Obviously it’s not a good thing, but I’m really interested in seeing this character and how they’re going to make her and turn her into what,” Garcia said. “And what are her choices and decisions? And based on what? I want to see them together. I want to see how Luciana, if I get to meet her, would deal with this situation. It’s not just a male, it’s a woman. It’s a villain. It’s whatever it is that she’s going to be. I don’t know, but it would be amazing.”
It is currently unconfirmed whether or not this new villain is behind Travis’ potential death but would serve as a brilliant introduction for someone who is set to rattle the show’s landscape.ย
