Fear The Walking Dead‘s Elizabeth Rodriguez is reportedly ready to take on a role in the film, according to TheWrap. It’s described as a “small but key” role.

Besides Jackman, the film will also star Stephen Merchant, Eriq LaSalle, and Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier. Richard E. Grant will reportedly play a “mad scientist-type” villain, while Liev Schrieber has spoken with Hugh Jackman about bringing Sabretooth back for one last hurrah.

A number of recent rumors — including the introduction of the character of X-23 — have pointed in a very specific direction for comci book fans.

The film being R-rated, set in the future, and having the tone of a western all fall in line with rumors that the movie will be based on Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s 2008-2009 “Old Man Logan” story, which involved Wolverine travelling cross-country in a dystopian future where the supervillains had won.

The Fox/X-Men brand is riding high, with Deadpool having been one of the biggest movies of the year at the domestic box office. The next film, X-Men: Apocalypse, will hit theaters soon, and The Wolverine Sequel will start filming in New Orleans soon for a release next year.
