Are you or someone you know asking, “Is The Walking Dead on tonight?”

If so, the answer may be disappointing. The Walking Dead is not new tonight for the first time in 8 weeks. After premiering Season 7 on October 23, The Walking Dead aired its first eight episodes of Season 7, concluding with the Hearts Still Beating midseason finale on December 11.

The Walking Dead will return for the second half of Season 7 on February 12, 2017. Production on the season wrapped in November.

Heading into the back half of the gigantic season, fans can expect to see Rick Grimes and company finally start to rise up and consider fighting Negan and his Saviors. For the time being, they are greatly outmatched by the group of savage oppressors but if Alexandria can unite with the Hilltop and Kingdom communities, their odds of defeating their enemies will greatly increase.

Going by Robert Kirkman’s original The Walking Dead comics (which printed issue #161 earlier this month), that is exactly what we should expect when the new episodes come around.

While the deaths may slow down a bit (four people from Alexandria were lost in Season 7A: Glenn, Abraham, Spencer, and Olivia), Negan and Lucille’s thirst will be ever present. The only difference is Rick Grimes will be expecting their attacks and sudden visits to the Safe-Zone, looking to be better prepared and eventually moving to strike the opposition.

Through 2016, The Walking Dead claimed the top spot on cable for the fifth consecutive year. Though live viewership saw a decline for the first six weeks before picking up with the final two episodes of the year, the total numbers result in an average of over 16 million viewers each week.
