Ahead of the new episodes, AMC has released a brand new extended preview of the new story arc.

The preview starts with some footage from the previous season seven episodes, but quickly adds in interviews with some of the cast and producers of the show. Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, Scott Gimple, Gale Anne Hurd, and other discuss what the group was facing in the first half.

After setting up Negan’s initial rule, everyone switches their focus to the rebirth their characters are experiencing in the back half of the season. As this transition occurs, some new footage is seen.

According toe Hurd, “They don’t have the weapons, they don’t have the man-power, but they have the will.”

The most notable of this footage shows Rick and Ezekiel having their first face-to-face conversation. The two leaders are going to meet in the next episode, and this is the first time fans have seen them speaking to each other directly.

During that scene Rick addresses Ezekiel, asking for help. “We came to the Kingdom to ask you to join us, in fighting the saviors. Fighting for freedom, for all of us.”
