The Walking Dead: 5 Predictions For Swear

It’s week six of The Walking Dead‘s seventh season, and the episodes are still taking the “one per individual story” approach.

Some of the other communities, like Hilltop, Sanctuary, and The Kingdom, have been given the single spidode treatment this season, and tonight’s episode looks to do the same.

‘Swear’ will follow Tara and Heath, whom no one has seen since the season six finale. If you remember last season, the duo left Alexandria on a supply run, just after Rick and the others slaughtered the Saviors in their sleep.

Since they left just after those events, Tara and Heath never knew about the season premiere. They have no idea what Negan has done to them, or how it has affected everyone else.

There’s plenty of story to explore with these two characters, so let’s take a look at five of our predictions for what the episode could hold.

New Community Enters The Fold

There’s been a lot of speculation regarding the introduction of a new community, and all signs point to the rumors being correct.

The clips and previews for this episode have shown sand, water, boats, and beaches, so it’s likely that this new community is Oceanside.

In the comics, Oceanside has played a very small role. There are a couple of men who have a boat, and they use that to gather fish for Alexandria, Hilltop, and The Kingdom. All of the communities have trade routes, so Rick goes to the marina to trade with the men.

While Oceanside only exists in a couple of scenes in the comics, it will likely play a much bigger part on the show.

Oceanside Connects Back To Rick

If this community does turn out to be Oceanside, and they do end up playing a significant part of the story, it would make sense for them to somehow connect back to Rick.

Whether someone in this community knows someone in Alexandria, or they have common enemies, something to unite these communities is necessary if Rick chooses to go to war with Negan.

The most logical answer here is that Oceanside will have had some run-ins with Negan. Best guess says that they were tortured by his people, or that many of their own were executed.

Either way, look for Oceanside to have something in common with the other communities, so that they’ll be ready to fight when the time comes.

Heath Dies

Poor Heath, we barely knew you.

While this episode is supposed to be about Tara and Heath, it looks like it will mainly focus on the former. Most of the promo footage seen for this episode features Tara running, and no one else.

It’s totally possible that this is just a diversion tactic, and that Heath had to take an alternate path for much of the episode, but there are other factors to consider here.

The actor who plays Heath, Corey Hawkins, is about to star in a series of his own. 24: Legacy debuts in February, and Hawkins nabbed the leading role.

If 24 takes up any time at all, Heath won’t be seen much, if at all, on The Walking Dead.

Walking Out Of Sand

One of the most talked about topics heading into this episode has undoubtedly been the supposed appearance of The Whisperers. 

While many think the off-color zombies seen in the previews were the maniacal villains, this isn’t the case. These are just walkers who happen to be covered in sand, and that lends itself to an interesting concept.

In season four, fans watched as a walker emerged from underneath to devour a young girl. The idea of a beach could incorporate a similar tactic with zombies and sand.

In what could be the most intense scene of the episode, look for a group of walkers to come straight out of the sand. It may be a simple idea, but it spells danger for anyone nearby.

Tara Finds The Kingdom

If the episode wants to bring itself full-circle, the ending will see Tara (or Tara and Heath, but probably just Tara) find one of the other communities on her way back.

Instead of ending up back in Alexandria, Tara will probably wind up sneaking into The Kingdom. Once greeted by Morgan and Carol, Tara will be the third of the group to meet the Great King Ezekiel. 

If this ends up being the case, The Walking Dead will have made up for spending an entire epiosde of Tara playing in the sand.
