In the newest issue of The Walking Dead, titled ‘A Certain Doom’, fans had to say goodbye to one of the series’ longest-running characters. The issue was extremely emotional for the various characters in the book, as well as everyone flipping through the pages.

A couple of issues ago, it seemed like Andrea had been bitten by a walker, as she fought to save Eugene from a horde. The mark was on her neck, and they thought it could be a bite, but there was never any word one way or another.

However, this week, everyone’s greatest fear became reality. Andrea was indeed bitten, and the issue saw all of the character’s getting their chance to say goodbye.

By the end of the issue, Andrea was dead.

How Did It Happen?

Andrea has had the bite for a couple of issues, and she just got back to Rick at the end of #166. They held each other, and she showed her lover the bite.

Throughout #167, Andrea is seen in her bed. As she’s dying, everyone that she loves comes in to say goodbye. Rick is obviously emotional, and he has to leave the room. Even though Carl is sad, he stays by her side for most of the issue.

Once everyone has said farewell to Andrea, Rick goes back in to wait until she turns. When she finally becomes a walker, he can’t shoot her. She attacks him, and they struggle for a minute, before Rick finally puts a knife into her skull.

There’s no question about it, Andrea is officially gone.

What Happens Next?

Although Andrea has always told Rick that they “Don’t Die”, she did just that. However, she seemed very okay with it at the end. Andrea told Rick he couldn’t let this get him down, and he had to move forward leading his people.

At the end of the issue, Rick walks outside to see all of his friends. They lay hands on him as a sign of support, and he tells them, “There’s more work to be done.”

Rick is going to continue doing what he’s always done, but there is a lot of trouble ahead. The Saviors aren’t happy, Hilltop has been destroyed, and Alexandria is about to fall.

Once Rick talks to Eugene, the group will likely move on to Ohio, following the woman on the radio.

What Does This Mean For The Show

Andrea has been gone on the show for a while, but Rick has found love in Michonne. She is the woman who he will stand next to for years to come. Michonne has even been the way to say that they “don’t die.”

With this in mind, the comic could have just revealed Michonne’sย eventual death. If the show ever gets to issue #167 of the comics, this could be exactly how it goes down.

However, this doesn’t provide any immediate changes for the show. There is a long road to get to that point.

Will Rick Get With Michonne In The Comics?

At the end of the issue, Rick and Michonne had a quiet moment together. She assured him that he was strong, and that she’d always be there for him.

The two characters have always been friends in the comic, but this could be the start of something more. Once Rick moves on from the loss of Andrea, Michonne could be there to stand beside him.

With the show acting as a road map, their relationship could blossom in the comics.
