WARNING: Spoilers Ahead For The Walking Dead Season Seven, and All Issues Of The Walking Dead Comics!
Videos by ComicBook.com
The Walking Dead has followed the comic storylines very closely during this past season, and fans are getting excited for the stories that the comics have on the way.
That being said, the show has been able to make some changes exclusively for TV. This ability allows for the series to still have some mystery surrounding its story, as fans won’t know exactly what’s coming in every episode.
According to Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl Grimes, there is a big comic story on the way, and it will bring a major change to Carl and Rick’s relationship.
In the comics, Carl finally decides to branch out on his own. He doesn’t want to continue being known solely as Rick’s son, he wants to make an identity for himself apart from his dad.
Carl begs Rick to let him move to Hilltop, and start living there independently. To no one’s surprise, Rick isn’t exactly okay with the idea. Over the course of a couple of issues, Carl wears him down. And, at the end of issue #128, Rick finally agrees to take Carl to his new home.
In an AMA on Reddit, Chandler Riggs was asked which comic storyline he was most excited about eventually filming. The actor responded by mentioning the very scene where Rick agrees to let him go.
Commentfrom discussion i’m chandler riggs aka carl on the walking dead, ama!.
The way Riggs worded his response makes it seem like this scene is a sure thing down the road. However, the scene takes place after the war with Negan concludes, so it may still be awhile before we see it unfold on TV.
