It’s been a couple of weeks since viewers have seen Eugene on The Walking Dead, but no one has forgotten what the guy did.

After being taken to the Sanctuary, and put under Negan‘s rule, Eugene seemed to enjoy the comfort that he was offered. Instead of being treated like an outcast, the guy was finally given the attention he’d always wanted.

By the end of the episode, it seemed like Eugene had actually bought into Negan’s way of life. It had fans scratching their heads, and wondering which side of the fence the guy actually found himself on.

Has Eugene become a traitor?

This subject is one that fans probably don’t want to think about, as the character has become a beloved part of the show. However, is recent actions leave only two possible outcomes regarding his current situation.

On one hand, Eugene could totally be a traitor. Sure, he doesn’t want to bring harm to his friends back in Alexandria, but he’s comfortable where he is. He doesn’t want to give up the feeling of importance just to help out the people that cast him aside in the first place.

This is the outcome that befell most of the men who currently call themselves Saviors. They didn’t want to continue living in fear, so they took up with Negan. They may have to do some bad things, but they’re living on Easy Street.

On the other hand, Eugene has love for his friends. In the past, when everyone thought Eugene was worthless, he came through for the rest of the group. After lying to everyone for the first part of his time on the show, Eugene came to be trusted by Rick and the other survivors. Why would Eugene want to jeopardize that?

Either Eugene is the smartest guy around, tricking Negan into a deadly trap, of Eugene is the coward that Rosita has always thought him to be.

Only time will tell which one he truly is.
