The new game is being billed as an augmented reality experience, which most fans should be familiar with having played Pokemon Go, one of the biggest fads of 2016. The game will surround its users with walkers and the necessary weapons to defeat them by using their phone’s camera to place computerized enemies and friends in their vicinities.
“The Walking Dead: Our World, first-of-a-kind location based augmented reality mobile game will hit Apple App Store and Google Play soon,” the official description reads. “Fight walkers on the streets, in the park, on your sofa, wherever and whenever you feel like it. You don’t need to face the apocalypse alone; Rick, Daryl, Michonne and all your favorite characters from AMC‘s The Walking Dead will fight by your side.”
As seen in the trailer above, iconic weapons such as crossbows, grenades, and Rick’s handgun will factor into the game, which is being developed by AMC and Next Games. Whether or not the experience will offer the team-up style of play teased by featuring multiple players in the same location during the trailer is still unknown.
An official release date for The Walking Dead: Our World is yet to be revealed, but the trailer promises it is “Coming Soon.”
