Throughout Season 7 of The Walking Dead, the AMC series has found ways to mirror previous episodes through dialogue. For example, Daryl’s dialogue in The Cell (Episode 7×03) mirrored an exchange between Merle Dixon and Glenn Rhee from a much earlier encounter (Episode 3×07).

Episode 7×09 contained a slight reference to Episode 6×16, which was more than one core character’s Last Day on Earth.

In the Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead, Rick’s overconfidence cost the group Glenn and Abraham’s lives. He wanted to trot over to the Hilltop and get Maggie the medical attention she needed but never realized how threatening the Saviors are.

As Maggie lay on the bed in the RV, Rick assured her that they were in charge and nothing will stop them from conquering the world. “There’s more,” Rick said. “There’s gonna be more.”

UP NEXT: Who Is In Father Gabriel’s Car?

He wasn’t the only character to drop such a line. The “there’s always more” line has been repeated by several characters at Negan’s Sanctuary, as well — including Sherry and Dwight.

Now, Rick is gearing up for another run against Negan and the Saviors. This time around, he is more prepared with knowledge of how powerful they are. On board for that plan is Aaron, who is typically against fighting but has changed his mind on fighting according to Ross Marquand.

Aarons loyal boyfriend, however, is not supporting the war with Negan and is mirroring Rick’s lines from the Season 6 finale in his argument about what searching for Father Gabriel will lead to.

“It’s gonna be more,” Eric said. “It’s always more.”

It’s not quite as spot on as Daryl’s mirroring of Merle and Glenn’s encounter or Rick Grimes repeating his sentiments toward Shane Walsh to Spencer Monroe but it is reiterating a continued theme from Season 7.

TWD Aaron Eric

Concluding his speech, Eric left off with an ominous bit given the constantly threatening circumstances around the people of Alexandria. “I want us alive,” Eric said. “Both of us.” Fans of The Walking Dead comics may have hit a sorrowful face palm after that last line.
