The numbers are in, and The Walking Dead was officially the most talked-about TV series this past season. And honestly, it wasn’t even close.

Daily Mail published Nielson’s Social Contact Ratings for the 2016-17 TV season, and The Walking Dead won the talked-about title handedly.
According to the study, the series amassed over 2 million interactions per episode across Twitter and Facebook. That’s more than double the second place series.
Empire on Fox came in second with 860,000 mentions each episode. Way behind that series are hit shows The Bachelor and This Is Us, with 453,000 and 436,000 mentions respectively.
Everyone knew that Walking Dead fans were intense, but that just proves how connected they truly are. There’s no stopping the wave of Deadies on social media every Sunday night.
That trend will look to continue when the series returns for its 100th episode this fall.
