Familiar ‘The Walking Dead’ Character Returning in Episode 8×02

The title and synopsis for Episode 8×02 of The Walking Dead have surfaced, and a potentially major spoiler comes with them.

The second episode of The Walking Dead‘s eighth season will be titled, “The Damned”. Here’s the official synopsis for the episode: “The plan involving Alexandrians, Kingdommers and Hilltoppers unfolds; as Rick continues to fight, he encounters a familiar face.”

With the synopsis promising the return of a “familiar face,” as revealed via SpoilerTV, there are a number of possibilities of which missing character is coming back to the AMC series…

Heath

Heath went missing early in Season Seven of The Walking Dead. Since then, there has been no sign or mention of the character in the zombie drama.

Still, Heath is destined to return to The Walking Dead in one way or another. 

“We definitely have not seen the last of Heath, period,” The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple told EW. “I will say that. I don’t mean to disappoint the Heathies. He will be on the show. He will be within The Walking Dead again.”

Still, Gimple notes that Heath’s return to the zombie apocalypse likely won’t come in the show’s action-packed eighth season, claiming there is “not a huge chance” we see the character in the coming episodes.

Morales

Morales left The Walking Dead in the show’s first season. Rather than heading to the CDC in Atlanta, the character elected to take his family to Birmingham, Alabama in search of the rest of their loved ones. 

There has been no mention of the character since then, but faces from Season One of The Walking Dead have proven victorious when it comes to battling return — ask Morgan Jones.

Morales actor Juan G. Pareja, however, has given little reason to suspect his character will return to The Walking Dead any time soon or possibly ever, even if fans are constantly asking for it. 

Also, the actor has undergone quite a transformation with his physical appearance since his time on The Walking Dead. Pareja is in the midst of an intense training program, which he is proud to show off.

Eugene or Dwight

While many hope the term “familiar face” means the return of a certain character who has been missing on The Walking Dead, it’s entirely possible Rick will encounter a character who he hasn’t seen in some time. 

For example, Dwight and Eugene both spend large amounts of time away from the Alexandrian communities, though both have significant ties to the group by now. With battle lines being drawn and the fight marching to Negan’s Sanctuary in Season Eight, Rick will certainly encounter at least one — if not both — of these characters.

Of course, Dwight may be a little harder to come by for Rick. The character is acting as a sworn enemy to the leader of Alexandria despite promising a behind-the-scenes allegiance to Team Family.

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead‘s sibling series Fear the Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 pm ET on AMC. The Walking Dead will return for its eighth season on October 22, 2017.
