The Walking Dead has fans worried for little Judith but one specific detail might give them reason to calm down… or be more confused.

It all circles back to a bunny spotted in two very different scenes on The Walking Dead. The first came in Season 8 premiere’s flash forward sequences. Before their end, the sequence revealed a little girl who referred to Rick as “Daddy.” This little girl was carrying a tiny, worn out, velveteen rabbit.
Then, in Episode 8×02, a little girl by the name of Gracie was introduced as Rick and Daryl were raiding a Savior outpost. Rick realized he had killed the little girl’s father just prior to entering her room and finding her in a crib with the same velveteen rabbit beside her, as confirmed by The Walking Dead prop master John Sanders on ComicBook.com’s visit to the set of Episode 100.
“[Scott Gimple] wrote in the script, a velveteen rabbit,” Sanders said. “I went to Etsy and I looked and there were nine different velveteen rabbits but this velveteen rabbit reminded me of my childhood. Scott’s a little bit younger than me, but not much, so I showed it to him and he picked it instantly. Guess where it’s made? Scotland. And we only had six days. So I called the woman and I said, ‘I need ten of those rabbits!’ She said, ‘No.’ I said, ‘We’re The Walking Dead!’ She said, ‘No.’ Maybe she doesn’t get that in Scotland. So, I explained it to her and how much I really wanted it and what I was gonna do with it and she got really excited. She made me two rabbits.”
The problem, however, comes with the fact that Gracie didn’t appear to leave the outpost with her rabbit. As Rick handed her over to Aaron, the bunny was nowhere to be seen. This would be good news for Judith, as Gracie will be growing up without the rabbit, ruling her out as the little girl in the flash forward sequence.
Still, the possibility remains someone will run up to the room where Gracie was found and retrieve the rabbit. She will, after all, need something like a crib to sleep in and more clothes to wear, all of which were likely kept in that room together.
As the mystery of Judith/Gracie’s rabbit unfolds, ComicBook.com/TheWalkingDead will have the latest updates.
