During the Thanksgiving season, it’s our tradition to do just that – give thanks. You may not always feel like there is a lot to be thankful for, but don’t forget, you don’t live in the zombie apocalypse.

That’s always something to be thankful for.

What about the characters in The Walking Dead? What can they sit around, and thank people for?

It may not seem like much, but these characters still have things that are worth noting during the Holidays. Some of them have familys, they’ve all got each other, and there’s a couple of other things that may be worth mentioning.

Check out our list of things The Walking Dead characters are thankful for this year!

Morgan And Carol

No matter how you slice it, Morgan and Carol are a couple of determined folks. Both of them have split from the main group of survivors, but they’ve both found their way back.

If it wasn’t for Morgan, Rick never would have survived. Morgan’s kindness, and willingness to help a stranger, really kicked the entire series into gear. When he came back around, it was Morgan who again saved Rick’s life, but it was more about the man’s sanity the second time around.

Carol is responsible for keeping Judith alive, resuing the group from Terminus, and baking the best cookies around. She also helped prevent the mass-spreading of disease at the prison, even if you don’t necessarily agree with her tactics.

Both of these characters are vital to the survival of the rest of the cast, and everyone should be eternally grateful for their returns.

Dog Food

If you look back through the history of The Walking Dead, Daryl isn’t the only one who’s eaten dog food. He’s just the only one who’s been forced to.

Before Rick and his people found the prison, they relied on dog food and expiered meat cans. It was pretty gross to think about, but it was all they had to work with.ย

Eating dog food may be nasty, but it could be the only thing separating these characters from The Hunters. If it wasn’t for dog food, Bob’s leg may have gotten eaten much earlier.ย

You don’t always want to eat it, but it’s never gonna go bad. Vegetables will come and go, but dog food is forever.

Random Episodes

Fighting off zombies can be exausting. It can be even more tiring when you’re leading communities of people in the process.

Rick definitely has a rough go of things, as do characters like Daryl, Michonne, and Maggie.ย

Sometimes, you just need a break. Luckily for them, the writers have their backs.

Episodes that focus on single characters can seem dull to some fans, but they do a great job of filling in missing information while letting the main characters rest. How do you think Rick was able to gather himself long enough to plan an attack on the Saviors?

Morgan’s solo episode, that’s how.

Dream-Sequence Thanksgivings

Groan all you want, but at least Rick gets an imaginary meal with his apocalyptic family. Lori was taken from him long ago, but the leader of our favorite survivors has built a new group of loved ones over the course of seven seasons.

While Negan has made sure the entire group can never enjoy life together, Rick was able to hallucinate and experience it for a moment.

It may have been sad to see Glenn and Abraham rejoin their family, but the scene also crushed any dreams of a happy future.ย

Keep dreaming Rick. and be thankful you’re able to.

An Obsessive Fanbase

Even when The Walking Dead has been at its weakest, the fans have still made it the number one series on television.ย

Not only do you guys keep the show on television, but you’re probably responsible for keeping certain characters around as well.

Do you really think a greasy redneck like Daryl would still be alive if millions of people weren’t threatening a riot?

Relax, it’s just a joke. On a more serious note, let’s be thankful The Walking Dead has continued to bring us such entertainment, even after seven years.ย

Happy Thanksgiving!
