If you were paying attention to the comings and goings of New York Comic Con this weekend, you know that AMC released a new clip from the season seven premiere of The Walking Dead.

The clip shows Negan talking to Rick, after brutally murdering at least one of his friends. In a word-for-word quote from the comic, Rick lets Negan know that he is going to kill him, one day.

The end of the clip gets really uncomfortable to watch, as Negan drags Rick into his trailer. When the camera pans away from the closed door, we're treated to close-up of the skull Negan has just bashed in.

There are bits of brain and tissue strewn about, and it's one of the most gag-worthy images in the series.

After watching the clip several times, some folks online started noticing something in the pile of blood and skull.

If you look closely, on the right hand side, you will see and object that looks an awful lot like a ring.

ring

Upon closer examination, it actually bears a striking resemblance to the engagement ring Glenn gave Maggie.

Does this mean Maggie gets the bat?

No, not exactly. It does, however, mean Maggie or Glenn will fall victim to Lucille.

If that turns out to be Maggie's ring, that means she had to take it off at some point. If one of her friends died, and it wasn't Glenn, why would she leave it on their dead body? What significance would her engagement ring have for another character?

If it was Glenn, this action would make a lot of sense. Maggie sees the love of her life die in front of her, and she leaves a symbol of their partnership with him.

It's poetic, to say the least.

Then again, the victim could be Maggie herself. As hard as Negan was swinging that bat, any part of the victim's body could have gotten lost in the shuffle.

Do you think this points to one of the lovers taking a dive in season seven? Which one do you think it was? Let us know in the comments below, or on The Walking Dead On ComicBook.com Facebook page.
